I'm completely over-whelmed by all the various story structures. I'm still trying to come up with one favorite to use as a standard for my stories. I confess, it tends to be a kind of beast for me as well... and that's just for short stories. This is the step that has ended most of my attempts to get from short story to novel.
I think that is true for so many people and that is one of the reasons why I prompted Chat to go through so many of them. One way that helped me was actually thinking of different story structures as different computer coding languages (my husband is a software engineer). Some code works better for certain applications or certain parts of an application, and others for others. You often mix and match in coding and I believe in story telling that is true as well which is why it can get confusing (I.e. some parts of certain “languages” are literally interchangeable and can stand in for each other just fine and other don’t at all).

"And I will use all of them!" --- I love that picture. (Scrolling back up to read the rest now...)
